Renovations to Biosciences Rooms 2311 & 2305

The objectives of this project are to:
• create a modern laboratory room for 40 students
• design the room to facilitate a ‘student-centered’ learning experience
• have students work in pods with 4 students per pod
The room would be equipped with a student side bench a prep bench student pods safety station student side bench and storage. A/V requirements.

Demolition and construction: As per Architectural drawing A2.

Lab Elements:
• Safety station and the coat racks at the entrance. The labs electrical panel and gas shut off should be located outside in the corridor.
• Student pods with electrical outlets nitrogen turret with a needle valve video with speakers. The pods that show as islands will need to have their servicing brought up from below while the pods that are peninsulas can have their services side loaded from the wall.
• Student side benches serviced with vacuum compressed air nitrogen and natural gas. The sink has a hot and cold water gooseneck as well as a gooseneck for type II water. Cupboards drawers bench overhead cabinets.
• Teaching pod with cabinets: intended to be a lectern A/V cabinet and demonstration space.
• Existing piped Services – volumes and pressures to be confirmed.
• Electrical – Duplex receptacles GFCI duplex receptacles in addition to provision for future needs. The conduit should be slightly oversized to accommodate future pulls.
• Ventilation ducting and fireproofing.
• Lighting
• Materials: Flooring wall finishes bench tops millwork and doors.
• Ceiling panels.
